This article examines the invisible failure mode of polycarbonate: internal residual stress. We analyze how improper cooling on the extrusion line leads to birefringence and catastrophic cracking during fabrication. By focusing on MFI stability, the hydrolysis penalty, and proper annealing, Bakway provides engineers with the molecularly stable PC sheets required for high-precision industrial applications.
